This Dutch kid got signed at 15. A year later he drops one of the best Rap albums of 2017.
Leafs first popped up on my radar, when in October 2016 the Video to his song Race was released. What ensued can only be described as an inexorable rise: At 15 years old he was the youngest artist ever signed to Dutch label Noah’s Ark. Subsequently one of my favorite producers from Holland, Ramiks took him under his wing and they followed up with some strong singles and a solid EP – only to outdo themselves with Leafs debut album Adventures.
The whole album is a must-listen, but for me Mamacita is the stand out track of the project. Honestly, it’s on par with any Rap song in the US Billboard charts and should make even the most ignorant person aware that in 2018 the hottest Rap songs won’t necessarily come from the US.
